1. 01 Lukang 1934 Birthplace. Hemei and Shengang; ancestral home Lukang. The wedding was in Lukang too. → chapter
2. 02 Puli 1945 Evacuated to Beishankeng in the mountains for eight months during the war; eldest brother also died in this period. → chapter
3. 03 Chiayi – Shuishang 1950 After marriage, rented quarters in the Shuishang unit dependants' village; paid off wedding debts. → chapter
4. 04 Dadu Mountain 1951 Eldest son Tang Guang-hua born. Under kerosene lamps, shared hardship with fellow servicemen's families on the mountain. → chapter
5. 05 Tainan 1952 Moved to a Tainan dependants' village, made cloth shoes, bought leather shoes; the children went to school. → chapter
6. 06 Penghu ~1953 Three years in Penghu. Eldest daughter Tang Chun-lan born here. → chapter
