Birth mother died young at thirty-seven, leaving five children.

Evacuation to Puli + eldest brother died + Japan surrendered

A family of eight moved into Beishankeng in the mountains. Eldest brother died in the South Seas from malaria while studying at the School of Tropical Medicine. In August Japan surrendered and the Second World War ended.

Married spouse Tang Ben-chang on Air Force Day — a local–mainlander marriage.

Gave birth to eldest son Tang Guang-hua by kerosene lamplight.
